Can we get a link to your 3DMark score (ORB)? We can (hopefully) glean more info from that.

Bump your res to 1024x768 for the test. That is the res that everyone uses so when you see a score then it is at 1024x768 unless otherwise stated.
That is the default. :p

I use a so called "old" KT133A Mobo and get 4500-4800 in 3Dmark03.

System
XP1600+ O/C'ed to XP2000+
1GB of PC133 @ CAS 2
PowerColor 9700NP Clocked 337/297
MSI 6330 Turbo Raid Mobo / Latest BIOS
Omega's Modified 3.4 ATI Drivers
Hyperion 4.46 Via Drivers

I'd look at your Driver versions to be the problem first since even though i'm using a 9700NP my MOBO/Memory subsystem is vastly inferior compared to your setup.

This benchmark is mostly about your video card. You will need a new and higher end video card to get a higher score. CPU is not the main factor.

In fact, I bet a ATI 9800PRO on a 1.5GHz AMD KT133a would score about 5000-6000!

Your low score is due to test 4 not being supported (which it should be). I had the same issue when I was running the Catalyst 3.0 drivers .... the problem was fixed by switching to 3.1 (and higher versions). Otherwise, make sure you also have the latest AGP drivers installed and the latest version of DirectX.

Properly configured, on your system, I would expect a score in the low 3000s (I had 3450 with an XP2000+).

how do i get into DX Diagnosis (i tried using run -> dxdiag but nothign about DX9 in there)? and how do i enable DX9?
what are the "omega's modified 3.4 drivers" shown in cubanx's setup? and how do they differ from catalyst 3.4

btw, i ran it in 1024x768, result was 2500 3dmarks

thanks

Type dxdiag in the run box and then when the DX Diagnosis comes up it will say what version of DirectX you have towards the bottom of the page.

Highlighted (in green to hurt your eyes)

If you have 8 or 8.1, whtn go to the Microsoft website and download DX9, or buy a PC magazine with DX9 on the free CD (if it has one).

Or get the Cat 3.1's or higher, as earlier releases had no support for DX9 as they were pre-DX9 drivers. (I think)

Whew. Thank god this wasn't another no0blAr who can't tell the difference between 2001 and 2003. :p

Sounds to me like you're lacking in the DirectX area, both runtimes and drivers.

Get the Cat3.4s and DX9a.
