Online Transaction Services

So I've heard of merchant accounts, money orders, paypal, whats the least threatning scam wise?

I mean if I'm selling something to someone, and they use their credit card, I give them the object and then they cancel the charge, what could I do?

I'm looking for a safe, guaranteed way to make online transactions with people privately.

With both merchant accounts and paypal you need to be able show that you shipped the item, make sure to get a tracking number. With a money order once you have the money, they can't do anything to get it back.

Years ago, I had proof of shipping items to someone who was trying to dispute the charges. Even though I sent proof of payment, and a copy of the receipt, as well as tracking info that the item was delivered to the customer, my merchant account still got charged back.

The guy even later admitted to me that he made a mistake and disputed the wrong charge. By then too much time had passed and I had no recourse.

personal sales? paypal verified or paypal personal are quick

USPS MOs are the safest. Cash at PO instantly(ID required of course, unless you know your PO person well)

The situation as it is: The payer can only use credit because he doesn't have the sum which is owed in his bank, but no service allows more than a $500 deposite.

He says a merchant account would be best, where could I set one up? And is it safe?
