Is there any online firms that allow you to open an account with less than $1000? I am a student and I just want to invest money with extra money I get from paycheck to paycheck. From what I have read they all require at least $1000 initially. I would like to start with $300-$400.

$500 is the minimum there i reckon.

You also get 4 dollar trades for the first 3 months at ameritrade, up to 50 trades.
