Hello

I am beginning a project which is going to involve sharing files with someone sitting in a different geographical location.

Instead of emailing the files back and forth, I thought it would be better to get some online storage somewhere which we could share. Can anyone recommend the best way to do this? Best company to use? Security issues, best way to do in a secure fashion?

It would be great if it included some version control stuff. (Not for code, just for excel files).

I know this is pretty simple, but I would really appreciate any/all advice. Thank you!

This isn't really a Software for Windows topic as online project collaboration is, and should be, platform independent.

That said, I would look at Google Docs and drop.io. Either of those should meet your needs.

Has anyone used Windows Office Live Workspace and/or Google Docs? (or drop.io) Which one is better for ease of use, version control, security, etc?

Also, I want to emphasize that I don't care at all about being you to view the contents of the files with my web browser, I just seem to be able upload, download, organize and have version control.

PS- I couldn't decide which Forum to post this in, I'll be happy to move it to the correct forum if you suggest one. Thanks!

Do you have a shared drive on a networked computer (inside the company LAN) that both you and your colleague can see? Excel has built-in "version control" if you share a workbook. It's not very refined, but it is very integrated into Excel.
