i have heard of many different online scams but this one is new by me. i am currently looking for a roommate and received the following two e-mails in the past two days through roommates.com:
"Hello,
Im Jane,25 years from Florida but now in West Africa, im 5.7 tall, 135 lbs {weight} with black hair and i will be coming to the state for a vocation , i will like to share room with u there because im only staying there for just 3 month's.The payment will be getting to u there from a client of me, that is owning me the sum of $4,800, and he want's to pay me with {USPS money order/cashier cheque}and i will not be able to cash it now because im not in the state as for now, i will instruct him to send it to u there so that when u cash it u take out the money for the room and send me the balance here through {MONEY GRAM}.So that i will also use the money for the arrangement of my arrival there, And they are some information i will need from u so that i can instgruct him to make out the payment to u there direct as soon as possible, here is it:
1} full name
2} address with zip code
3}phone number.
I will like to hear from u soon as u get this message so i can tell instruct him to make out the payment fast to u there before the room is rent out to some onme else.

Am an IT Professional by occupation and I'm specialised in system analysis and software development.I have worked and lectured in the field both at home and out of my Country as I also get involved in research works.
I am curectly in West Africa ,Nigeria to be precise ,and am there for a contract at a FEDERAL UNIVERSITY. I'll be relocating back to the states for a research work which will commence very soon and will like to have my own room.
I registered for roommate and I saw you advertising your room, that there is vacant there,i will love to know if the room can be given to me cus i will love to come there directly to stay when coming back to the state.
About the payment that is not a problem I WILL ORDER MY EX-BOSS WHO I WORKED FOR WHEN I WAS IN THE STATE TO SEND YOU A CHECK OF MY LAST PAYMENT WHICH HE OWES ME SO THAT THE ROOM CAN BE KEPT FOR ME.
