This may be a repost, or just a dumb question but i was thinking about starting to play online poker sincie i love to play with my friends but since i am home for college i am going through withdrawl. Is it really legal tho? I know thousands of people play it with no problem but still arnt they all just srevers off US soil. Will a regual debit card work also?

Why does it matter if it's legal or not? You aren't going to be busted.

Some CC and debit cards work, some don't. There's ways around that, some cheaper than others.

Yes, highly illegal. :) :) Ignore all the PartyPoker ads on this forum and in magazines :)

It is legal since the physical addresses of online poker rooms and casinos are located in different countries.
A debit card may work, you can try it. If it doesn't work use www.neteller.com to play. It is like PayPal of the gambling world.

I am pretty sure that the way they define the gambling is taking place where the user is. Which would be in the united states. Which raises the question why doesnt anybody get caught for gambling online if its such an obvious thing.

Maybe becuase it would involve investigating credit cards which require some sort of warrant?

The user is simply playing software, which relays the results to a server and company located in a a country where the casino or poker room is licensed. No money changes hands on US soil.
