where does everyone play? I'm looking to start playing for money online and im just wondering what are some good hold'em online poker sites out there that everyone uses/most well known??

thanks 😀

start at party poker, then switch to ultimatebet and pokerstars. after a month or two, partypoker will give you $100 just to start playing again. 😀

empire poker for me. Good place to start out as a noob because they dont limit how often you can refill your play money. AFAIK they all pretty much share the same software and maybe even the same servers. I tried to reinstall pokerroom and it wouldnt let me since I already had empire installed. It said that they share some of the same rooms???!!!?!?!?!??

How many of you have moved on to playing with real money? What is the competition like?

I've considered just throwing $100 to one of these online poker sites to play around a little. If I lose, not too much of a biggy.

has anyone figured out the stipulation that partypoker deposits those bonuses at?

Anyone have any suggestions for a place to play with fake money where people in general don't throw money around just because it's fake? I'm not a great player and I'm still working on learning odds, when to fold, when to call and when to raise, etc., and while playing the play money tables at Party Poker is fun, I get the feeling that I'm not really getting the knowledge that I want to.

the swings aren't that big in .5/1 tables. you cant lose more than 8 dollars a hand and that rarely happens if you know how to play pretty well. if I were signing up again i'd sign up for one of those free sets of poker chips with it. you have to play >150 hands or something but at least if you lose your shirt you'll have something to show for it.

My recommendation is UltimateBet from the few that I have looked at. What makes them a good choice is that you cannot recharge your play money which makes it somewhat of a scarce resource that people will play more realistically with. I haven't played with play much very much...particularly because they have .01/.02 cent limit and no-limit games. At these levels, you get the benefit of playing with money without the potential losses you could encounter as one starting out. hehe...in fact I'm playing as we speak - if you see me im GUTomek.

Can't refill the play-money eh. That does sound good. Perhaps there will be less morons betting before the flop on EVERY hand. God I hate those people.

haha. NO KIDDING eh?

Ah crap. I just played a few hands on ultimatebet and it seems to be the exact same as the others. In one of the hands (I played 4) the pot was over $200 before the flop, with blinds of 5 and 10 dollars. And in each hand there was pre-flop betting. People are such idiots.

Lately I've been doing all my play money playing in the tournament rooms on www.pokerroom.com. Its a little more fun then the regular tables since you only get 1500 in chips and once its gone your out. Only problem with those is there is almost alway 2-4 morons that go all in the the very first hand with junk but once they are out of the way things settle down.

Still haven't worked up the nutts to play with real money.
