Who here plays REAL money online poker? And where do you play it at? If you play in a B&M room, I want your input aswell.

I play mostly online, but live less then 2 miles from my local cardroom which I visit twice a month. I play online 6 days a week. I make some pretty nice $$ at it. And recently my wife (who at the beginning hated it) asked me if I thought I could do this fulltime.
I make more playing poker a week then I make at my 40/hr week job. Now, granted I can play online poker at my current job (yeah I know it's kickass). I make atleast $600 a week playing poker...and that's usually on the low end. I don't play tourneys, just cash fixed ring games. My bankroll is at a comfortable level.

Anyways....Let me know what you think, and where you play at.

Right now poker is a fad, so a lot of n00bs with money are around to fleece.

What will you do in 6 months when the craze fades and people start doing something else with their time and money? You'll be left playing against hardcores like yourself and won't have the odds in your favor.

I play on party. I would recommend not turning pro until you are making 3 times what you are making at your real job.

also, what sample size of hands have you gone through and what limits are you playing?

you could be having an extended hot streak.

LOL...this is my 5th year at it.....I've been playing before it was a "fad" and I dont play for pennies....The peeps I play against know the game, aswell as I do and I like it that way. 15/30 or 30/60 is usually my spot. And it's never lower then 1X what I make in a week...and more then 75% of the time it's atleast 2-3 times more then what I make in a week.

Around 500 hands a day X by lets say 5 = 2500/wk = 10k month = 120k year. X 5 = ALOT.

Fulltiltpoker.com is the best one I've tried. Paradise Poker sucks - very slow, but they do have more than hold 'em, omaha, razz and 7-stud. I've been trying out their blackjack tables (unwinnable in the long run) and their 5-card draw (I like it so far).

I play at pokerroom.com. It's the only site I've found with instacash neteller deposits. I'm thinking of trying fulltilt soon though. Any other suggestions?

Right now I'm playing on PokerRoom, but I move around to FullTilt, Ultimate Bet, or Party when they have reloads :)

I'm a winning player but between work, school, and real life I don't have much time to play. It provides some fun money though :)

if you are consistently playing at 15/30 or 30/60 I think you are fine going pro.

you lose all the benefits of a regular job like medical etc, and at a regular job, worse comes to worse you get fired, but you have a bad day or week at poker and variance could kill you. But I'm sure you know all that.

Good luck. I think you can do it.

wife carries insurance.....so that's fine....I have always known when to quit, and cut the loses for the day. Haven't gone broke in 5 years....and I think I discipline myself well. And that's the #1 problem even with pro's. They carry themselves to a high standard and when they lose they still think they should be playing at those high limits when they have no reason to. I just heard that Gus Hansen went broke in vegas.....Damn and that guy won millions last year....Just goes to show ya....need discipline.

rumor is that Gus is a few million in to hole to the Big Game that Doyle, Chip reese, Barry Greenstein, some others play.

but then thats not too unbelievable as no one knows about Gus's ability in cash games only his tourney prowess.

and its easy to drop a mill when blinds are in the 10s of thousands.
