I'd be more concerned witht the picture's source than the printer...

Nikon D70

ive printed 24x36 on the 9600, from a 640 meg PSD file looks great

20x30 looks fine from a 100 meg file as well

I've printed 20x30 prints from 1600x1200 photos at shutterfly.com. I've got 2 of them hanging on the wall in my recording / music room at home, and get compliments on them all the time. They look sharp and the colors are great. One is a Chicago skyline, and the other is St Louis.

I have an Epson Photo Stylus 875DC that I bought just to print my own pics. They are much better coming from Ofoto.com. The quality of the paper and the gloss on the pics is remarkable. I do everything thru them (or shutterfly.com) now. Besides, the cost of ink and photo paper isn't chump change... comparable to 25 cent pics from either of the above sites.

EDIT>> I should add that this was for 4x6 or 5x7. Never done bigger. If you print your own pics, make sure you frame them immediately after drying cause if exposed to air, the pics will fade quick.

As long as the company you go with uses a good quality printer (Fuji, Noritsu, etc. Kodak generally isn't as good), and your monitor is calibrated and you have a profile for the printer your photos are to be printed on, I doubt you would be able to tell the difference at normal viewing distances.
