Online mutiplayer Wii games

We have Mario Kart on Wii and love it... I mean we play 3-4 hours at a time nonstop. So we popped in Super Mario Bros. Brawl and found out you can only play 1 player at home vs the online world. Why that is I have no idea, but it sucks. So what other fun games are out there where we (the two of us) can play simultaneously vs. the world online?

Mario Strikers Charged? Etc. Any suggestions?

I made myself laugh too after reading it. But you know what I mean. Who really enjoys sitting at home all alone playing games w/ random people online? I guess it can be fun, but I get so much more out of it when I'm sitting next to my wife or a friend and they can play along.

Yes, but if online multiplayer is what you're looking for, you really chose the wrong system... 😉

I have a 360 as well. But honestly, the Wii is perfect for both my wife and I to enjoy. The other online games are just too complicated for her taste.

 
In mario kart, do you and your wife play as a team? Do you help each other out and if the 2nd player is ahead by the end of the race will that person wait at the end for the 1st player to catchup?

My gf and I do this all the time. If all is going well, I'm in first and shes in 2nd playing defense like hell, shooting at anyone who gets near her, but leaving me alone to build my lead on the rest of the pack. If I'm in 2nd, she'll drop back and try to score a blueshell so I can get the lead easier. We have lots of little moves and strats worked out.. 🙂 on tracks with long straightways like delfino square, we do a leapfrogging draft. Good for making up time or extending a lead. The best combo we've been lucky enough to use though was lightning bolt while I had a bullet... that was the quickest I've ever gone from last to first!

We do a little... but have only been playing online for 2 days now so we're learning. I get pissed when she throws shells at me and what not when I'm in the lead on the last lap. Only b/c the score is generated by my player and she's just the 'guest'. But now we actually take turns and try to help the scoring player win. I will slow down from time to time to let her pass me if she's got shells and I have nothing... so she can nail whoever is in first. I do like the fact that the online play limits the exploding P-wing though.. that thing sucks when it pops up too much and you spend a lot of time in 1st.

How many of those games let you do what the OP wants to do?

For that matter, what Xbox games let you play local multiplayer against or with online opponents? For Wii or Xbox would be good to know.
 
That's the answer I'm looking for.... local multiplayer + online play. Someone link me up to all the Wii games that are good for it. Xbox 360 would be nice too.
 
I know Rock Band 2 you can for sure.

I know Call of Duty: WAW has pretty good online multi (not sure if you can do local+online, never tried)

On the 360 Halo 3 and Left 4 Dead are good choices.

Cool, cool! Left4Dead is up my alley so I'll go after that one.

RB2 sounds good as well. So you can basically play 2 players v. 2 other players? How does it work. I'm a GH guy, never done the RB thing.
