What websites do you all use to find listings for job and internship possibilities? I have used careerbuilder, and my school's erecruiting. What else is out there?

My college had an excellent listing of internships on e-recruiting. It might be a tad early for some summer internships...the sweet spot tends to come later in January or so. I tired many other sites in my search, but had little luck.

EDIT: And yes, company websites work quite well also.

Do ALL you can to maximize your search. I mean it's not like you have to stick with ONE. I have my resume at Monster, HotJobs, & Careerbuilder. I also had 3 agencies looking for my job.

also one important method is networking. this especially rings true for business jobs/internships. but i realized it's one of the most important ways to get your foot in the door.

OP: What geographic are you in? Major? What field do you want to work in? Give us some more details.

Take advantage of your school's on campus recruiting. My only regret from undergrad (other than graduating on time) was not informing myself of the timeframes and getting in on some of the better employers. Second, let that same office review your resume and cover letters.

After that, I've always used Dice and Craigslist. I have my resume confidentially searchable on Dice (basically they can get my skills inventory and years of experience, but not my name, they contact me through the Dice system if they want). Be sure to not use stock cover letters, force yourself to write a specific one for each job you're applying, and have multiple resumes too, each tailored towards different positions and emphasizing different skills and attributes.

Based on statistics I crunched while working in recruiting, Monster.com was the #1 online source of hires for my particular company - we got anywhere from 1/3 to 3/5 of our online hires from there. HotJobs was second and CareerBuilder was third. (Stats shifted on the east coast so Monster/HotJobs were about even.)

Dice is good for tech jobs. Craigslist, actually, is a surprisingly good source of work in major metro areas. If you're just breaking into the job market, consider doing contract work through an agency - they do the work to find the job for you and you get some experience on your resume to enable you to get consideration for perm jobs on your own.

My school used erecruiting as well, and I found several good opportunities through there which also led me to my full time job after graduation.

First place outside of school recruiting company looks at (or even before) is their company website. If you're gonna apply online, apply to their website and your school recruiting site, other sites are pointless. Yes, it's more work, but it's more effective.

God, I hate monster.com. All the positions I've applied there, I get no answers. It's like they never got my application or just plain out ignore me. I use craigslist. At least over there, I either get a "How about a phone interview?" or a "Sorry, this position has been filled".
