I'd like to learn (well, continue learning) german (which I did in the UK equivalent of HS 5 years ago), but I can't really take any local classes at the moment due to personal situations, but I do (obviously) have the internet.
Anyone got any tips for the best way to learn a language using mostly the internet (and maybe supplemental books)?
Anyone managed to get reasonably proficient at a language without taking proper classes?
I have limited german ability already from HS, but it was quite a long time ago.
I was thinking maybe exploring language learning software options, see what websites might be useful, and is it worth getting some learn language books from amazon or the like?
Plus what's the best way to practice when there are no people around, reading foreign language websites/talking to people of that language over the internet?
