Same thing here, job sites are useless. I have submitted my resume many times, call a week later to follow up to get a "huh?"

Only thing that works is truely getting your face out there.

Like everything in a job search, online job boards should be one component of your job search. I have had many interviews and calls in the last six months due to the job boards, but it is only one piece of the puzzle. If your skills are solid, you will get nibbles. A lot of people just take the shotgun approach with it, and that's why it doesn't work.

I got my current job through an online site. But, I have submitted plenty of resumes to those sites that have lead to nothing.

Online or offline, More than anything in this world, it's WHO you know moreso than WHAT you know. Never burn a bridge and Network with as many people as possible. A while back I had my current job just fall into my lap because of who I know. I won't brag about how much I make either.
