i think this is the right forum for this..
it took me a while, but i have a few good places to park my cash.

these three worked for me:
1. http://www.yellowstones.net/home (best, easy)
2. foreign currency exchange (a lot of URLs, learning curve)
3. sitting on egold http://www.egold.com easy, but low return compared to #1 and #2

there is only one i tried that didn't work out too well, it was very very long term, it's called "Prosper" and it is people-to-people lending.

i was hoping we could all share what has and has not worked...

In regards to #2:

Trading FOREX is an excellent way to loose your shirt if you don't know what you're doing. It's plainly apparent to me that you don't.
However, if one wants to trade, the FOREX market is the place to do it.
Pipin' ain't easy.

Of the 4 investment "opportunities" you list, Prosper is the least awful.

"Park your cash" in FOREX? Mmmkay. For parking cash I'd suggest an INGDirect FDIC insured high interest savings account, but to each their own.

For long term investing I usually recommend stock index based mutual funds like Vanguard's VFINX (S&P 500). Safe, almost zero effort, good long term gains.

Most forex positions last a few minutes to couple of hours and if you're clueless about what youre doing then you might as well hit up the local casino's roulette table.

I think I can add another investment opportunity: some trustworthy guy in Nigeria said he needed some money to help him get a fortune out of his country and into my bank account. Maybe we could all give him our money and we'd all get a fortune!
