I play acoustic guitar, I have been playing for a little while and defintetly can play some decent stuff. I've not really progressed much in a while and was wondering if anyone has used any good online guitar lessons? Preferably free of course....

I've been thinking of getting some in person lessons but would like to do it online if there are actually good lessons.....

Youtube is OK, but there's a lot of crap out there, and no structure.

I would check out http://www.workshoplive.com for decent online lessons. They're structured, they show you the theory behind playing, and they have world class players giving the lessons. Highly recommended, and the prices are pretty good (I think you can get 12 month access for $60).

As for individual songs, the main place us guitarists go is http://www.vanderbilly.com. It's also where a lot of my online guitar buddies hang out, and we will take requests to figure out songs for you on the forums.

perfect for beginners to intermediate. Learnt alot about music theory.

he makes these short 10min lessons on everything from scales to actual songs.
Hes Tasmanian so the accent keeps it a lil more interesting as well.
Seriously, he has probably 20-30 hours worth of video content to pour thru.

Free, but he likes donations.

I wouldn't call GuitarPro "Guitar lessons" Guitarpro is just tabs. People who I know who rely on tabs to learn and play music are terrible at improvisation because they have not trained their ears. Guitarpro is akin to painting by numbers.

Guitar Pro tabs also list the sheet music, which is what I tend to use more frequently anyway.

guitar pro 5 costs money last I checked

For a tab reader just use TuxGuitar. It reads Guitar Pro and Power Tab files and it's free.

All you need is Petrucci's Rock Discipline and use the Alexander and Feldenkrais techniques

LOL again. It's amazing how cheap people are. Some poor French guy made Guitar Pro to support himself, it's awesome, it's only like $29, and people still want free.

On a semi-related note: anything out there for piano? Obviously there is a ton, but maybe someone has a recco? I have a weird fascination with learning how to play all of a sudden.
