I am of course talking about those sites that will give you free stuff (iPods, TV's, game consoles, etc).

Before I go any further just let me say that I HAVE had a few friends get free iPod Nano's from these freebie sites that do the whole referral thing...why did they only get iPod Nano's? Well, because they didnt have 20+ people to get referrals from for the bigger more expensive stuff.

My question (and my little trickery scheme) is this...say I want an iPhone 4 and I need 25 referrals (thus 25 different people/credit card numbers)...whats stopping me from getting 25 pre-paid debit cards with like a dollar on each of them from Walmart and just acting like I'm 25 different people? I mean, how could they tell?

I mean, I do know that some of these sites ARE legit to some extend and like I said, I have friends...actual people I know in the flesh...who have gotten free stuff from sites like these...

Is it possible to play them? Just kinda thinking out loud here is all...

Edit: This particular site called "FreebieJeebies" seems to be quite legit...they even have a forum here:

http://www.exceem.co.uk/forums/

People here have 1000's of posts and are saying they got their iPhone 4's, consoles, etc WITH pictures even...I mean, is stuff like this just too good to be true?

I don't know the answer, but I got a free ipod once :) I just paid the people that needed to sign up for whatever they ordered. I think it ended up costing me like $80 for what was, at the time, a $300 ipod.

Anyone know anything else or have more info about this stuff?

You know why they give stuff away for free? Because they SELL your information over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

Anyone who signs up for these kinds of things is an IDIOT.

Well then you and I must be using a different Google then...cause theres NOTHING about anyone getting anything negative on their forums or online. NOT with FreebieJeebies.

The other, yes, definitely scams. But FJ isn't.

If they are a scam, please provide me some links that pertain specifically to FJ. Thanks.

Yes, FJ is the one single exception to the rule.

You get something for free. How do you think they pay for all the stuff they give out? They're selling your private information to other companies who buy huge lists of contact names. Thousands of names for, say, $100.

You can't be this naive, can you? I know you're only 18, but you've GOT to know this by now...

I used a site for a while that gave out "free" 360 games. It wasn't referral based but offer based, and at most I paid $15 for $60 game. The only info they had of mine was an address.

junk mail sending lists are steadily decreasing in popularity. They're nearly dead at this point. If they don't have an email address (which they probably did), then most of these info-selling scams aren't interested.

You signed up using an email address, right?
