I feel like I just found the internet for the first time!

Just renewed my registration online (NY site) and it took all of 3 minutes from my seat. Compare that to having to wait on the friggin lines at the DMV... and the travel time to get there. Oh I guess you can also compare it to the $0.37 it would cost to snail mail it...

One of the best benefits of the internet - DMV service.

I don't mind the new plate design too much. I wanted custom letters though... that $#!T is expensive !!!

You guys are lucky.

I used to have a NYS drivers license until I moved to NJ and remembered they took digitized pictures for your license. I got a renewed license automatically in the mail without doing anything since they already had my pic.

With NJ, I've got to go in and get my new pic taken because they still use regular film for licenses. Fortunately, I think NJ will have a 10 year license now so I will only have to worry about it in 10 years again.

Signed up for my road test online at the NYS DMV website. Works fine.

How come they won't let us upload a pic of ourselves into their database and they can send us a new license for a small fee? ;)

The pic on my license was when I was 16 ! Eight years makes a world of difference after puberty. ;)

Because you'd probably send in a half way decent pic. Every one knows you have to have a really stupid look on your face for a license photo. Their cameras ensure that! ;)

Do they charge you a convenience fee when you pay for your registration online? In California, they charged me a $4 convenience fee. I didn't mind because it took them like 2 days to send me my sticker but just wondering if they are only doing it in Cali.

I'm not so sure it's their cameras... I think DMV employees are the masters of Photoshop. I mean they take your picture... and have you sit down for 10 minutes and then out comes your license. Just long enough for the computer nerd in the back to make you look like a moron. ;)
I'd LMAO if someone had their picture taken... and then when they got the printed version they were wearing different clothes, or none at all. :Q ;)
