Online console game rental?

I think this is a really good idea, but I would like to know if anyone knows anything about this company.

Hmmmm...NetFlix for video games.

They have a free trial so I suppose it couldn't hurt to try them out.

It seems like a really good service for heavy rental users. But for the average joe, $30 a month seems like a lot of money to spend. Especially when I can rent most of the games I want from BlockBuster for $6 for 5 days. When I rent a game, I hardly ever need it more then the 5 days I get it for.

The other thing I don't like is that it seems there is little or no control over the exact games you get. You can create a list of desired titles and they send you the one(s) they happen to have. If you rent a lot, this works well, but for someone like me, there is rarely more than a game or two I would want to rent.

It seems like a good service, but one that I won't be using.

Your post peaked my interest so I did a little research on groups.google.com

One guy mentioned problems in turnaround time with GoVoJo so he only played two games during his trial period. I found some posts for Boomerang Games where the people seemed pleased with the service.

I used RedOctane.com a couple years ago for a service just like this. I had a good experience, but I only did a game at a time. I had a bunch of rent 1 get 1 free coupons at the time. They mail me the game in a nice reversable envelope that was already postage paid. You just throw the game back in and drop in the mail. Service times were sometimes slow, but I would call them and let them know I had just gotten the game, and they would adjust the rental period. Never tried their unlimited packages, though.
