I am consdering driving OTR and doing Online college (via laptop) at the same time.
As someone who has never been to college, how realistic is that? Is that too much of a work load?

Thanks.

My wife is doing Troy University Online. All assignments are due on Wednesday at midnight and if there is a test, it's due Sunday at midnight. With Troy, all you pay is for the credit hours.. no additional fees or anything. It is $220 per credit hour and each class is typically 3 credit hours. You also have to buy the book which is around $150. Each class is only 9 weeks instead of the typical 18 week like regular classes. Here is the Admissions requirements page. http://www.troy.edu/ecampus/ugadmissionrequirements.htm. They offer 18 degrees online. http://www.troy.edu/ecampus/programs/index.html

I'm not sure what the price would be with you being out of state but I'd check into it. A girl here at work is doing online classes through Florida Technical Institute and each class is $1500. At least Troy is a fully accredited university.

Q: Is there one help desk number that I can call to get answers to the various questions I have regarding Troy University?
A: Students and prospective students may call 1-800-414-5756 or e-mail ask@troy.edu to get answers to questions concerning the many different functional areas of Troy University.

Thanks for the information, Sasiki. But, that's not what I was curious about.

I am wondering if the work load of doing both would likely be difficult?

What is driving OTR?

I'm currently taking 6 hours this semester while working 45-50 hours a week. It's not terrible, but it makes for long days. The good news is this semester has flown by. I'm going for 9 hours next semester. I hope to have my MBA-MIS in Spring 2011.

over the road/...basically a truck driver, like driving a semi or something

Don't do it while driving!

I would say depends on your segments. If you have long ones with big layovers, it might be a good way to pass the time. If you drive every day, then it would be the same as having a normal job I would think. Work 8 hours, study 2 hours a day.

Driving would average 9-10 hours a day, plus time for fueling, etc. etc.

It only takes 2 hours a day to study? Really? :)

By both at the same time, I was assuming that many courses could be done by Audio?
