But really....should we be blaming The Internet, or the educational system which is failed in teaching these kids to differentiate between formal and informal writing? I was certainly taught just a few years ago that there are cases where you never use abbreviations, contractions or slang.

I dunno... I like my contractions and slang, and see no reason not to use them in writing.
