I forgot to mention, if the services are free, and if not what you pay for them

also ... what about services that you can use whether in the states or in canada, are there any that accept both? i'm looking for a free bill payment solution that works with the most payees

I use quicken bill pay. I liked it at first because it is tightly integrated with Quicken and the e-bill feature made paying bills a snap. It was worth the $10 a month. Unfortuntely they switched service providers. I used to get about 6 e-bill a month, the new provider only supports 2 of my payees. In addition I find the new web site to be less friendly than the old one. I am considering switching over to my credit union's free on-line bill paying.
Bottom line: I do not recommend Quicken Bill Pay.

I've been using Bank of America's online bill pay since it was introduced 2 years ago. Still, I prefer pointing all my bills to my creditcard(s) then, at the end of the month, pay the creditcard balance online (keeping a PDF copy of the confirmation) while waiting for my paper statement.

I find RBC expensive though. TD and CIBC have unlimited chequing accounts for $12.95 per month. I've used National, BMO, Scotia, TD, CIBC. They're all pretty similar for online payment and they all use WEBDOXS except BMO. But none of them will pay Primus Automotive Financing Services, which is what I'd like to do. I have to issue a cheque or spend $15 at Western Union for immediate payment. I don't want automatic pre-authorized withdrawal, so my options are pretty limited.

hsbc for me. I feel very secured with them. the only way to logon to the billpay section is enter your password by a virtual keyboard. therefore, free from keylogger.

my bank offers it, but I have no need to use it -- all my utility bills have auto-pay options, I pay my cc at cardmemberservices.com, and I like paying my rent in person because it gives me a chance to see my landlord and complain to him ;)

It's all about Paytrust.

It's different from all other bill pay sites because:

1) my bills get sent there and scanned in. I see an actual pdf of the bill.

2) i don't have to type in the amount to pay. they already enter the amount due. I just have to authorize it.

3) I decide when the money is sent. Some bill pay sites take the money out as soon as you schedule it, so they're earning interest on it instead of you.

4) I can have it auto pay bills based on criteria. For example: if my phone bill is less than $50 it will autopay it. If it's more, then it notifies me. This is so I don't get scammed by a $400 phone bill that's incorrect.

5) at the end of the year i can get a cd made with all my bill scans on it. this is for permanent record keeping.

i highly recommend paytrust.com. it's one of those things like tivo that i recommend to everyone.
