I'm looking to open a new savings account (and perhaps a checking account), so I'm trying to decide which banks to consider.

My requirements are (mainly as concerning their website / online banking capabilities):

  • Quicken integration (so that Quicken can automatically get my transaction details)
  • Supports paper checks
  • Allows inter-bank account transfers that are electronically initiated by the user
There's some other stuff that I'd like (physical branches, tolerable interest rates, etc), but they're secondary to the above.

Any suggestions?

quicken can get your data when you set up the bank login, right?

most banks allow interbank account transfer via ACH. I have 5 checkings and all of them let me do that.

physical branches? you are in ohio, just go with key bank? make sure to get a nice account opening bonus if you are going to open a check with them.

Quicken generally uses the same credentials as the online banking login, but not all banks that provide online banking provide Quicken support (i.e., ING Direct).

Most banks allow ACH interbank transfer? I know that ING Direct does (had an account with them, but am closing it because they removed Quicken support). I've also had checking accounts at Fifth-Third and US Bank, and haven't seen that feature on their websites. Currently have accounts w/ National City, and haven't been able to find that feature.

Looking up Key Bank... I've heard of them before, but I don't think I've actually seen their branches anywhere (not necessarily a problem).
