Nice. Seems like all of last year's Onkyos are on big sale on Amazon. The 809 (3 steps up from this one) is still under $500. Even this year's models are on sale. The 819 (this year's 809) has been under $700 on Amazon and elsewhere for a few weeks.

Keep an eye on the price, it will fluctuate at Amazon over time.

I purchased this a few days before xmas for $156. It really impresses me. I especially enjoy the Android app, because I can just whip out my phone and turn on the radio or Pandora etc. and listen without having to turn on my TV or computer or audio player. Also, the app can stream the MP3s from your phone to the receiver, very easy to use.

Highly recommended if you want to upgrade to a receiver with the internet radio and app-control (android or iphone).

This year's upgrade to the 809 was the 818.

Just pulled the trigger on the 818 during BF. Got it for $699 on Newegg. Saw it earlier in the day on Amazon for $647. Shoulda bought it then.

Amazon is doing trend pricing. When the sales escalate, their prices go up.

Either way, killer price for a $1200 receiver. Quality of sound is amazing.

I'd bet even at this 509, it sounds above way above average.
