Had a topic about the LCD I am looking to buy and some suggested I look at purchasing components rather than a HTIB. I have decided that my time is better spent elsewhere than doing the massive amount of research to buy individual components of the audio.
So...I was looking at the Onkyo HTSP908 and came across the HTS990THX. It does not have the DVD but I can pick up one (or a BlueRay). The cons on the 990 are that it has no HDMI connections..........How does that hurt me. I am truly a novice and any advice helps.
Thanks!!!

What's your budget for this?

I would suggest looking at the Onkyo 908 HTIB set rather than the 990 is you're getting a Blu Ray player.

(The 908 HTIB comes with the Onkyo 605 as the receiver... or a clone of it at least... which has the ability to play back the new HD audio formats from Blu Ray discs)

As for the amount of research, I've tried to condense a lot of info into the sticky thread at the top of this forum.

We can also make suggestions for you rather than you blindly starting research on your own.
