Onkyo HTS-760(or similar)home theater setups, need advice on speaker stands

I will be moving into a new apartment soon and will need a way to mount my speakers. Unfortunately wall mounting is not an option, since that would damage the walls, and I am not willing to pay for that at the end of my lease. For those that don't know the system I have is a 6.1 setup with fairly large bookshelf type speakers. Rough estimates on the size of the speaker are as follows. Center is 15x7x6(but I just set this on top of my TV, seems to work okay) the fronts are 16.5x7.5x8 and the surrounds are 4x7x10.5. Currently the fronts are sitting on my TV stand on each side of the TV, not the ideal setup, but it works okay since my TV stand is pretty wide, the stand is 24 inches tall BTW. My surrounds are sitiuated on a couple shelves and one is hanging on the wall, again not the ideal setup, but I did what I could with the space I had.

It is my understanding that you want the fronts at ear level(mine are, with the exception of the center, it being a bit higher then ear level, but angle just slightly downward) and the surrounds at ear level while standing. So the fronts shouldn't be too hard to deal with, as a last resort I can leave them like they are, or I could buy a couple of 24" stands for them. Possiblly these
as they are 24" and should match my TV stand nicely. According to circuit cities website, they recommend them for the HTS-770(which appears to be very close the to my system). So really the fronts and center are taken care of unless anyone has better suggestions.

SO what should I do about the surrounds, About the tallest stands I have seen are like 31", that would put the surrounds well short of where they should be heighth wise. And how could I mount my center surround assuming my couch is directly across fromt he TV and against the wall. Any help, opinions, ideas would help, thanks

im resurfacing this thread b/c my parents might purchase the hts-770 and i will have the glorious task of setting up the surround sound.

im excited. if you imagine a square, the 65"hdtv is in the upper left corner angled towards the lower right corner. where should i place the 6 speakers and then the subwoofer?

finally, there will be a receiver, vcr, dvd player, and xbox connected to the tv. where would you place all these things? i feel like it will be too cluttered to place on top of the tv (not to mention too high). would you buy some kind of stand to place in front of the tv?

thanks atot.

Get an audio rack for all the equipment and put it next to the TV or a few feet away. Get stands for the speakers or wall mount them. The center channel could go on top of the TV or on a stand in front of the TV.
