it looks like the usb connects to your computer to play mp3s and stuff. looks pretty interesting, maybe a bit pricey but probably very good quality and neat features. i sure do like that purdy vertical loading cd tray! ;)

I just ordered one of these for my wife from hifi.com. It hasn't come yet so I can comment personally but the reviews I found looked quite good, especially compared to that overpriced bose clock radios that get advertised so much. Also, do a google search and you can come up with a $25 off coupon too, so mines coming in $174.99, delivered, no tax. :)

If you are using this with a USB input, do you need a soundcard in your computer?????

Here's the Crutchfield info on the mysterious USB input:

USB Input: By connecting the USB port on your computer to the USB input on the back of this unit, you can listen to music (and any other sound) from your computer with excellent quality. The following system requirements must be met to use the USB input with PCs and Macintosh computers:

System requirements for PC compatibility:

Windows compatible PC with a Rev. 1.0 compatible USB port
Windows 98, 98SE, Me, 2000 or later operating system that supports USB
System requirements for Macintosh compatibility:

iMac, iBook, or Power Macintosh or PowerBook with a built-in USB port
Mac OS 9.0 or later Mac OS that supports USB
USB Mix Level: When using the USB input, you can also listen to another source (CD for example) and the relative volume of the USB input can be adjusted with the USB mix level knob.

For Micro executive system, that's a pretty good price for a decent brand such as Onkyo.

These can run anywhere from the $100 range to like $900 for nakamichi which has quite a clean sound for such a small system.

Damn, now I have to find the money to buy this baby...

This might be a pretty nice deal. Looks similar to a B and O unit that a friend of mine has. It's either the Bang and Olufsen Beosound 3000 or 4000. It runs around 1900 new, he paid 750 used at Good Guys. The sound is great for a small unit but at that price it better be. This looks pretty slick for 200. If the sound is even close to the B and O it's probably worth the two hundred.

Here's a B and O link just for the heck of it. Beosound 3000

I don't think it would compare to a B&O but it does have some decent reviews at CNET and audio review sites.

T*chbargains has $25 off $250 coupon for Crutchfield. Pick up some extra cables or something. Crutchfield is the absolute best company I've ever dealt with. Read their return policy. They'll take it back for ANY reason.
