That receiver is OK, but doesn't support SWITCHING of component video sources...plus, I personally wouldn't buy an integrated receiver/DVD player. Better to buy them separately unless you really don't have the space...The HTS650 is a better deal by far...

Incidentally, this deal has been around for at least two weeks on the Onkyo site...

Why do you say it doesn't support component inputs, first it's a prg. scan dvd player so unless Onkyo likes wasting money they would pretty much have to include component out's just so that people can actually use the dvd player to it's full potential, second it says under the specs that it has cmpnt out. If you have a HDTV this still may not be for you, but if you do, it would be a better deal right now than the 650. Then again I don't know if this DVD player will be able to support HDDVD when it finally arrives, but if you have HDTV then you should be up on what's coming out anyway.

the problem with the HTS650 is an issue with the receiver not doing 5.1 correctly..there is a low frequency issue...you check it out at hometheaterforum...Oknyo for awhile refused to acknowledge..they finally did and supposedly it was a bad batch of receivers....so I am hesitant on a refurb of this unit as a result

Onkyo HTS 650 LFE issue

Actually yhr HTS560 wasn't refurbished. It's new. In the box new. This thread is for the SKSHT500PKG and that one is refurbushed. Don't diss the 650's, they are the major schizzies. Although I appreciate the forewarning. I'm sure these batches don't have this problem. :)

I had heard from another forum that these all have had any of the issues of LFE fixed and should work properly.

Silex I realize that but I made a reference to the HTS650 in a post above...and was passing info along...

Xclan if that is right amd the receiver is fixed and there is no LFE issue..the price is awesome for the HTS650

Anyone have this receiver/dvd changer ...is it worth the extra $$$$ vs just the HTS650?

Hey, what makes the SKSHT500 speakers refurbs - why would they have come back to Onkyo needing refurbishment?
Also, anyone know if these speakers (satellites) can be wall mounted via brackets and, if so, any place good to get universal wall mount brackets?
The four satellites are actually 2 different sized pairs - fronts and surrounds.

Thanks.

I have this setup....except it is the 5 disk dvd changer one.

the speakers IMO do not look like a 1000$ set of speakers...but they arent and they shouldnt have to be. I was just playing music through this setup...from MP3's on my Laptop....and it cranks for the $. I live in a house not an apartment and i turned it off so i do not make my neighbors mad.
