Discussion has already been done in Oneplus 3 thread, and if that is enough please merge/lock.

I'm from Europe, where Oneplus 3 is perhaps a better value proposition.
OP3 is 400€, Axon7 is 450€, and there is no 2y warranty for Axon here.

Axon
Pro:
- QHD screen. MAYBE I'll be interested in Daydream next year. So could be important.
- slightly better battery life reported in some reviews
- QC3.0 charger, which is a big deal, because I could use any 3rd party QC3.0 powerbank/charger
Con:
- FPS on the back, which is awful for me because I often use my phone when it's laying on the table
- somewhat worse software, though not sure by how much. Looks clean, with some bloat, and a little bit slower (not sure how would this be long term, which is what I am worried about more than just pure looks).

Is there a case to be made for going with Axon here, for someone who reads ebooks and browses 90% of the time?

It basically boils down to QC3.0+QHD vs Leaner OS+front FPS.

And I really don't know which one of these will be more useful in day to day life, because I'm coming from L640XL.

Plus, some really bad rep for OP warranty service. But really not sure if there's much to it. And i have no idea how is ZTE in Europe.

I suppose another option would be nexus M1. Same specs, but is it realistic to expect 500€ price? I'd pay the nexus 100€ premium, but no more.

1 major android update will be enough for me. Give me 7.0 Q1 2017, and I'm good.

I plan to keep the phone for 2 years.

Any advice would be welcome.
There are plenty of theads like this on Oneplus and ZTE forums, but they are not so informative unfotunatelly. Too much fanboism, not enough data.

I'm probably overthinking this, but whatever.

I personally ordered the Axon 7, I figure the sharper resolution will be easier on my eyes for reading, plus I like my audio.

Axon 7 all the way for me. I have been spoiled by front facing speakers before...anything else just doesn't seem as good :)

my wife just replaced her OPO with the OP3 and she absolutely loves it. Leaves my Nexus 6 in the dust. Screen seems fine to me, but probably would suck for VR.

I have not really tried VR outside of some basic demos. It was a FHD Xiaomi + Cardboard. Looked fine, but I suppose, watching videos would suck.

I just hate FPS on the back so much :)

I do read a lot. A lot. Like, all the time. I never game. Just read :)
But I gotta say, I did not notice a difference those few times I did have FHD and QHD screens side by side while looking at a webpage, from a normal viewing distance for me at ~10". But maybe with prolonged usage would be more noticeable.

This is a complete non factor for me. I have a few BT speakers which I always use. But thanks anyway for reminding me, it's a tiny Pro :)

axon 7 has, 2 years warranty. dual loud speakers(internal dac). 2k screen. microsd slot. dual sims. if you don't care for either of these advantages, there is no need to get axon 7. and OP3 have better support on xda forums. axon 7 isn't even unlocked yet, no custom roms possible atm.

kinda weird how europe doesn't get the 2 years warranty. why?

With the Axon 7 you might not need those BT speakers anymore.

In a surprising twist, it's actually OnePlus 3 that has 2 years warranty here :)

Though, what is the actual quality of that support, I am yet to determine.

aren't all manufacturer warranties standardized? the only part they don't cover is user damage. that is where the 80$ 2 years accidental warranty is for. eu has way tougher consumer laws vs usa. I wish usa got eu consumer protection laws.

Well apparently no, because few webshops i visited that had Axon7 were offering me to extend the warranty to 2 years.
So not really sure.
But for OPO it's stated in official materials that it's 2 years in EU. So that's good. I only need to find out where is the service center, who pays the shipping, and are they still assholes and try to blame "water damage", in case something goes wrong.

if you are that worry, maybe you should stick with american or eu phones? just for that peace of mind.
