One year...

Went to a local Ford dealership today and test drove a 5-speed Mustang (V6, bleh). Great interior, I absolutely love the car. Cobra comes out in a year, wanted to see how I fit into the car and how comfortable it was. Great little machine. Sadly, the dealership had zero information on the upcoming Cobra (not entirely unexpected given that it was jsut announced), but I'm going back in a couple months to see what I need to do to pre-order.

That thing will be a hell of a lot of fun if I ultimately decide to get it.

Great. Let's hope we have gas then.
Given that it is likely a fixed resource, I feel that it's philosophically much better to put it to a use that gives me enjoyment than to squander it by burning it in an econobox that's no fun to drive.

Besides, if I want mileage, I can always drive my 944.

Did anybody there know anything about the Cobra? I've found that salesmen generally know less than a person who spends 5 minutes at the manufacturer's website. Most are buffoons. It's refreshing when you meet one who actually knows the basic stats on the vehicles he's selling.

Didn't know a damn thing about the Cobra (at least the upcoming one) other than that it wasn't officially released yet. But knew bits and pieces about the base and GT models. Was a lot better than the guy at Saturn was when I test drove an Ion Red Line (they were giving away tickets to the state fair and I figured, hey, free tickets). I popped the hood on the Ion and the salesman looked at the engine for a couple seconds, pointed to the supercharger, and said, "I've always wondered what this thing was for."
