...one of my good friends was killed in a car accident, he was 17. Well, can't really call it an accident, more an intentional crash. He was riding with some guy in an Integra down a winding two lane road, double yellows, and came up behind a Suburban. The guy driving thought it would be funny if they played games with the Suburban, so he proceeded to pass the Suburban. The lady driving didn't like that and to make a long story short, she ran them off the road (with her three children in the back seat watching). My friend died while being airlifted to the hospital at 6:14 PM (CST) October 24th, 2001. The guy driving is just fine and the lady in the Suburban got of scot free.
I don't know if it's the emotions talking or what, but I feel as if I need to say this. To the people who get extreme road rage, it's fine to curse and beat stuff in your car, but please refrain from doing anything that could endanger another on the road. To the people who street race...don't. Take it to a track, that's what they're there for. What does racing on the street prove? You have a faster car than someone else, big deal. That just means you can go faster and get killed faster. I know you don't know me, and I don't know you, and I'm sorry for this post, but I just felt like I needed to post it. Everyone drive carefully so that you don't cause an innocent person to die.

That sucks.

It sounds like the guy driving the integra instigated the entire thing: "The guy driving thought it would be funny if they played games with the Suburban"

I am not saying what the lady did was right, far from it, she should be tried for vehicular homicide, but I dont think we are hearing the entire story. Merely passing someone as you stated has nothing to do with playing games when driving. This is why I think we aren't hearing the entire story.

Absolutely well said! And don't you dare apologize for this post! Road rage deaths and street racing deaths don't just happen to everyone else, they can happen to you or someone close to you. Slow down!!

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend...that sucks.:(

I'm not saying what she did was right, but think about her position for a second. Here she is, with her 3 kids, going home or where ever, minding her own business, and 2 guys in a car start messing with her. She probably got scared, for herself and for her kids, as you never know what can happen these days. Rape, car jacking, theft, stealing her kids, you never can tell. So she reacts fiercely to protect her kids and herself.

She may not have known that they were just out for what they thought was a few kicks. And they obviously didn't consider the reaction their messing with her might cause.

Just pure speculation, putting forth an alternative view, as I have no idea what the facts were. I was in a similar situation coming back home with my mom, brother, and cousin from a trip when some guys in a car started messing with us on the highway. I tried ignoring them, but they were doing dangerous stuff. I guarantee you that I would have put them in the ditch had they not finally backed off.

I'm sure she is having to deal with the reality and finality of her actions everyday. :(

I'm also so very sorry for the loss of your friend. :(

He didn't say exactly how they "played" with her, but I know I've passed quite a few people on narrow country roads & nobody ever tried to run me off the road.
