One website doesn't work on one browser on one computer

I moderate a private forum hosted at Delphi Forums. Getting there is a matter of:

1) Go to http://www.delphiforums.com
2) Click on Login
3) This brings you to a login.prospero.com page. On there click on Already a Member? Click here.
4) This brings you to another login.prospero.com page. On this new page, enter login credentials and click the Login button.
5) You should be taken to your forums.

This works on my work computer (Windows 2000) in both IE6 and Opera 9.63.
It works on my laptop (Windoes XP MCE 2005 SP3) in both IE7 and Opera 9.63.

However, on my main PC it only works in IE7. In Opera 9.63, I go from Step 4 to Step 3.

Delphi's support isn't much help. Here is their first email:

If you keep returning to the login page after submitting your membername and password, it means that you are refusing the login cookie file from login.prospero.com or less likely, you have a corrupted cookie file from login.prospero.com. In IE6 or IE7, go to Tools>Internet Options>Privacy tab and click on the Sites button. Make sure that login.prospero.com is listed and set to Always Allow. Add it, if necessary. Does that fix it?

If that does not fix it, look for an existing login cookie from prospero.com and delete it - or just delete all cookies. If you do the latter, make sure you know your passwords, because cookie files can save login passwords and deleting them cancels the automatic password fill-in.

Here is my reply to them:

I tried everything you suggested and nothing has worked. Bear in mind that the problem is with Opera - it works just fine in IE7. In any case, I did delete all cookies in both browsers, and added login.prospero.com in Sites under Privacy to Allow (it's listed as prospero.com -> Allow).

And here is their reply to that:

If I understand you correctly, the login works on one computer, but not on another with very similar configuration. There must be a difference, though. Something is different in the one that fails in the login. It could be settings or it could be software, and not necessarily the browser software. You may have software on the system that fails that interferes with the login while using Opera. Some versions of spam blockers or popup blockers or anti-virus software can interfere. We have no history of login problems with Opera browsers, and there is nothing in particular that I can point you to.

I'm not sure what to do next. I deleted cookies, temp files and Wand info in Opera. I added entries to my hosts file for login.prospero.com, prospero.com, delphiforums.com, and pod09.prospero.com, using the IP addresses that these return on a ping. I also turned off PeerGuardian and VIPRE. But the behavior is unchanged.

Any other suggestions?

Opera has a "Manage Cookies" dialogue. Can you get into that and see if it's actually making cookies for the site after you visit it? Or select "ask me before accepting cookies" and see if it prompts you when you try and login there (after clearing opera's cookies again)?

I would suspect Opera's cache settings. For faster surfing, the browser sometimes reuses data from its cache. Unfortunately, it is possible that the cache data is not the most current. Compare Tools/Preferences/History between the working & non-working browsers. If there is a difference, change the non-working one to match the working one. Then try to log into that website and see if it works.
