Actually, they had already come up with a way for people to want to use Bing, and it was with Bing Cashback. Since they dropped that I don't have much use for it.

Well yeah...I'd use a free tool if someone paid me too. Doesn't make it a good tool.

Bing's search sucks. The only thing it's good for is it's video search and it's pretty homepage.

Yea. Have not gone to Bing since.

Sigh, I got 15%cb on basically my entire computer at TigerDirect back in '09. Next build is going to suck.

Lately Google has been doing a pretty good job of making me want to use Bing.

Bing is just awful. It simply doesn't find what I want to find. Annoying since the search button on my phone goes right to bing.

In my experience:

Bing is total crap compared with Google for search.
Google maps is worse than Bing maps, especially for computing accurate travel time.

Bing has better aerial view too, in my experience. I like the 4 different angles.

What got me to use bing: Google donating to a bunch of right-wing political groups.
"Microsoft continues to dominate Google when it comes to campaign and political action committee spending, outspending Google nearly tenfold in the first half of 2011. Microsoft reported contributing $580,000 to congressmen, candidates, political parties and leadership PACs, while Google reported $61,000 in donations over the same period."

Do you really think Microsoft donated to only Democrats and liberal leaning groups?
Do you really think Microsoft doesn't donate to a bunch of right-wing political groups?
If so, I have an ocean front property in Arizona to sell to you.

That's like someone saying Goldman Sachs and other investment banks don't donate to Democrats.

No, it's more like saying this was a recent activity by Google and so it's a reaction to them doing it, and I haven't gotten around to checking out MS donations yet.

If MS donations are also a problem, there are other search engines.

Until I find otherwise, MS gets the benefit of the doubt.

They're all going to make some donations, I especially didn't like Google's picks which were apparently in response to some pressure. I sent them a note, as well.

Man, why'd you bother? Trying to educate Craig is a lot like pissing into the wind.

DuckDuckGo!

You know, I've heard about this one a lot and have used it a few times. Upon reading this, I decided to go look at it again. I clicked on the lots and lots of goodies link. I'm damn impressed. It has a feature called instant answers. I can type in "population of tampa" and it gives me the population in an answer at the top. It works with a TON of commands. Very damn impressive. It also helps that it doesn't track my shit and I'm helping out a 'small' company whom hopefully is a bit more responsible
