One TV show has ruined every other show for me.

After purchasing (yes, I bought it) the first and only season of HBO's Lucky Louie I just cant stand to watch any other sitcom. I used to like Seinfeld (of which Louis CK wrote the Soup Nazi episode), Everybody Loves Raymond, Third Rock, and Titus a whole lot. Now I cant stand them or any other TV show because they all have repetitive laugh tracks, overly PC jokes and unrelated topics.

Lucky Louie was taped in front a live audience, two times per episode. So what you are seeing is how it unfolded live, not after 10-20 takes. The reaction from the audience is REAL. No other show is like this. They get laughs where they thought they wouldn't and silence when a joke wasn't actually that funny. Its just as good as seeing a live comedy show.

Fuck HBO with canceling this show while keeping around garbage like entourage and Dane Cook's junk. I seriously doubt there will be a TV sitcom like this again.

Seinfeld had a live studio audience.

If the audience laughing prevents you from enjoying a show... I'm sorry. That's a mental hurdle you'll need to get over, or you can watch single camera sitcoms that have no audience like The Office and Always Sunny.

Entourage is a good show, even if only for Ari Gold.

Mental Hurdle? Doesn't even deserve a response.

Don't get me wrong, I like the office, but I used to love it.

Its not just the audience. With every other show being politically correct its hard to imagine most TV interactions to be possible. Also, truth is funny. Most sitcoms feature something totally out there that the topic at hand holds no significance to our lives.

Louis CK is hilarious, but Lucky Louie sadly was not that great.

I have to agree - he's very talented, but the show was just too on the nose.. It was exactly what you'd think a brash satire of sitcoms would be...

Wow... you suck at just watching a show for what it is. Entertainment. Switch the damn channel.

Wow, I actually guessed Lucky Louie before opening. That show is fucking hilarious, and far more "realistic" than most sitcoms.

Seinfeld used a combination of a laugh track and a studio audience. Obviously you can't use an audience when you are "on location," but the scenes in Jerry's apartment had an audience. It is especially apparent whenever Kramer enters the room in later seasons, the audience laughs and claps for 30 seconds sometimes.

It wasn't meant to be offensive. You're not supposed to notice the laugh track or the audience laughter, but you're so focused on it you can't enjoy the show.

While I'll say this season hasn't been as funny, and has really been (I'm guessing) setting new sets of elements, goals, and challenges for next season to smash it out of the park, Entourage is a solid show.

In fact, most of HBO's shows are good (Entourage, Oz, Big Love).

So buzz off.

You will be happy to learn that FX has signed a 13 episode deal with Louis CK for a new sitcom:

"Louie" stars comic Louis CK as a standup comic and newly single dad raising two daughters in New York City.

"Louie" is based on the star's life and will blend standup material with what Landgraf described as "extended vignettes" depicting moments from his offstage experiences. Louis CK is exec producer, writer and helmer of the series. Dave Becky also exec produces.

"Louie" will most likely preem early next year.

I still like Entourage. It's damn fun.

I just realized the wife from 'Lucky Louie' is cokey smurf. Sick.

I don't mind laugh tracks - but I do find them annoying enough to ruin some shows for me. They become annoying when they start putting the laugh track after every line or every other line spoken. Seinfeld may have been filmed before a live studio audience, but a lot of that laughter - even in Jerry's apartment when it's the audience - isn't just the audience. I guess it's just some sort of contagious humor that they're going for. Often, when you're with a group of people & everyone else is enjoying themselves & laughing, you'll be more apt to laugh & enjoy yourself too. Apparently, not everyone is susceptible to that psychological phenomenon.

Interesting. IDK how funny it will be with just him and two shitty kids.

Ari Gold + Emanuelle Chriqui in some nice dresses is what makes the show 😛. Oh and Drama going at the girl as a Furry.

Fuck live audiences and laugh tracks. I don't give a shit what the audience thinks is funny, i care about what I think is funny. This makes CYE/Sunny the funniest shows on TV (honorable mentions to Californication, Rescue Me, Scrubs)
