One tough cop

In one of my firearm classes I use a few videos like that, where people have been shot 10-14 times and continue to fight. It really drives the point home that you fire until your opponent stops moving.

Holey Moley! :Q

Anyone else notice the state of the perps face when he was arrested (20 seconds into the video)? Word to the wise, shoot cops at your own peril!

How many times did he get shot?

There was a thread in P&N where the army was complaining about the 5.56mm ammo not being deadly enough, like it often takes 4-5 hits to take someone down with it. I thought 5.56mm blows holes through people...

If the army wants deadly they should go with hollow points instead of FMJ which require more precise aiming to be effective.

From killing a person stand point, a bullet that slows downs and spreads open like a flower when it hits you will do more damage then one that puts a hole thru you

Full metal jacket ammunition is acceptable for military use by the countries that signed the Hague Convention of 1899, which prohibits the use of hollow point or expanding bullets in war between the countries which signed that agreement. It is often incorrectly stated that the prohibition is part of the Geneva Conventions, and that full metal jacket bullets are specifically required. Although the actual language is rather vague, full metal jacket bullets remain the best option available to stay within the letter and the spirit of the Hague convention. The bullet itself is still highly lethal when fired at close range.

That's actually what I meant. Small entry, flower petal exit explosion. I have no idea how anyone can survive something like that.

The sound waves of his screams had generated atmospheric focusing that had a negative impact on the speed of the incoming bullets.

Seriously though, he simply got lucky. I would certainly quit from the force after such an incident.

Its the vest.. without the vest, he would have died... if he didn't have the vest, it would have only taken one round to kill him... it only takes 15 seconds to die from internal bleeding assuming you are shot in the middle of the chest .. not enough time for ambulance, etc..

Thank God, the idiots who shot the cop didn't know about the "two in the chest, one in the head" rule....

Not necessarily true at all. Many people are shot multiple times wearing no protection and come out fine. The below excerpt is taken from a news report on the sentencing:

Stone said one bullet entered his chest and came out at his collarbone. Red marks on his neck showed where it had traveled. Another bullet hit his bulletproof vest and pierced his skin, while another entered his shoulder blade and exited at the top of his shoulder, fracturing his scapula and shattering his collarbone. He said doctors could not be sure how many times he was hit.

Yes, guns kill, but it's not automatic. Yes vests help, but how much in this case is unclear since he was hit so many times. Yes, the officer was very lucky.

glad to see he pulled the gun atall unlike some other disturbing cop videos i've seen. lesson i guess is pull the freakin gun earlier, and have the guys start to cuff each other. and have a partner:p u figure he'd have one guy spread eagle on the hood or the ground so he could deal with the other:p minimize threat.
