Front right tire has a leak. Loses about 2.5 pounds of pressure a day.

Need to get it replaced on short notice.. do I need to replace all 4 now?

Can't the tire place fixed the leak? If not, I recommend changing the left front tires for now to keep them in sync. Although, if the tires has low mileage on them I won't worry about changing anything but the one with the leak.,

Gee.. thanks.

Do any places do leak repair? Would that be an option or do I need to spend the $100 to get a new tire on there?

Tires have 25k miles on them and are 8 months old.

If it's something simple like a nail then yes, a tire shop can fix it in about 10 mins. for about $10 or so (or maybe even free at the place you bought the tires - some shops will fix them for free). If it's a leak in the sidewall of the tire, it'll need to be replaced (but at only 25k mi. they're probably still under warranty).

Heavy driving for such a short time - pity the vehicle and driver both.

Most tire shops will try to find the leak and patch it. If the leak is on the sidewall, the tire is usually considered a loss. If you have a road hazard warranty on the tires, that will replace the tire at close to no cost.

If the leak is at the bead (where the tire meets the rim) the rim may have been dinged. In that case, the rim may need to be replaced.

For any of the scenarios a competnent tire shop will be able to determine waht the problem is and fix if possible.

Well the car is still under warranty but of course stuff like brakes and tires are not covered under the warranty. The always seem to exclude the stuff that can break.

Oh well.

I'll take the car to a tire shop after work. Called them up just now and I was told about $20 if they can fix the leak, $120 for a new tire if I need it.. don't even want to consider replacing the rims.. I have nice ones on the car and that would end up costing me a few 100.. I should have gotten a cheaper car with hubcaps.

:(

As for heavy driving.. I drive about 95 miles a day round trip to work.. so thats 15k miles right there. As for the other 10k.. I just like going places!

A tire repair facility will suggest you the best option (hopefully). Maybe it is just the tire unglued from the rim - it happened once to my sister

What caused the leak? Did you hit a curb, possibly bending the RIM? Really it depends where the leak is / the root cause.

For example, You can plug a nail in the tread yourself using a $5 kit. Not pretty but does the job. The tireshops can check for other leaks like said above, the rim, could be the valve is bad, etc. If there is a nail/hole in the sidewall the tire has to be replaced.

If you replace the tire you should replace the other side tire as well. With the same brand/tread type that is on the rears.

If they no longer have the same tread type / make / model that you had before then you might be pressured to replace all 4 tires. Having different tread types/patterns in front and in back, I have been told, can make your car handle oddly. I tend to think that's extreme but it's a chance that you have to take.

No clue at all. Two days ago the low tire pressure warning light went on. I checked the pressure and saw the front right tire was at 35. It was supposed to be at about 44. Filled it up, reset the sensor, and went on my way. This morning it went on again. I cheked the tire and saw it was back to 35 while all the rest were sitting happy around 44.

Well, they still carry it.. Goodyear GA. $120 a tire though!! As for it being old.. well, it's 8 months old but as I said before I have 25k miles on them. Rotated tires once so far.

It could be a leaking valve or puncture in the tread. It does not sound like sidewall damage because I have never seen one leak slowly. Usually they just blow.

Take local gas station and have them find the leak. A tire that new should be covered by a warrenty if the tire itself was faulty. If the tire has a crappy seal on the bead This can be easily fixed .

If you hit a nail ,for the most part they can be plugged and fixed.

Is that leak on your new Impala? If so take it to your dealer.

I've always wondered who needed a feature like a low tire pressure warning light... I guess now I know

I don't think you need a low pressure warning light to figure out you've experienced a blowout! :Q

Okay, since no one has mentioned it, and you didn't figure it out yourself, you should *find out where the leak is coming from.*

90% chance you ran over a nail or something similar. Turn your steering wheel all the way to one side. Go look at the leaking tire. See a nail? No? Drive forward 2 feet. See the nail? No? Drive forward 2 feet again.

If you DON'T see the nail or other obvious damage to the tread, repeat the above again because it's probably in there.

Check the sidewalls for any damage or puncture.

If all that fails - get a bucket of soapy water and a sponge. Wet the tire all over with soapy water. Especially around the valve stem. If there is a leak, you'll see air bubbling out somewhere.

THEN once you've told us what the actual problem is, someone can give you some advice on what to do about it. Assuming it is a nail, you can either have the hole plugged ($10 and 3 minutes) or patched ($20 and 15 minutes) ... either will work fine, technically patching it is better but I have driven on plugged tires for thousands of miles and never had a problem.

I would but..

1) The shop closes before I get home from work

2) Need it fixed asap.. have a LONG drive (10+ hours) coming up tommorow that cannot be delayed.

Didn't you buy a road hazard package when you bought your tires? If you did they'd probably fix it for free or at least pro-rate you on a new tire...

They were on the car when I bought it new.

They are Goodyear's and have some sort of warranty. I will ask the guy at STS when I bring it to him later.

^Worth looking into.

Also, I'd only suggest replacing the front 2 tires if you have a leak that can't be patched. That is, unless you've got money to blow, then replace all 4 at once.
