Hi all!

Well, it's happened to us. Someone got our credit card number and called up Discover to try and increase the limits and such......

Thankfully, the person wasn't able to answer all the security questions, so they hung up..and Discover immediately suspended the account.

However, this got me thinking, I use this card *alot* and would like to get more info on these "once time use" credit card numbers I see others typing about.

What companies offer these? Does anyone have any suggestions on good companies with $0 annual fees that offer these one time use numbers?

CitiBank's the way to go.

I had a CitiBank card, it got bought out by BankOne.

Now I need to re-apply at CitiBank.

:|

The nice thing was I got to consolidate my entire balance on to my existing BankOne card at a fixed 8.9%.

Woohoo!

Wow!

You guys are QUICK! I just posted this like...2 minutes ago!

Anyway, I was looking at Discover..and even though the person i spoke to on the phone swore up and down that Discover did *NOT* offer any sort of one time use numbers..it looks like Discover has this "DeskShop" software which sort of does the same thing......

Has anyone used that Deskshop software from Discover?

Since I'm getting another discover card in the mail...I was thinking I might just start using that....

Thanks again for all your fast replies! Y'all rock!

Time for me to cancel my amex card then, they never gave me a limit increase (500) and I've been using them for 4 years now.

Did you pay your bills on time and establish a good relationship with them?
If so-Call them up and ask them. they should do it. $500 is a very very low limit.
If not-Sorry, your sh*t outta luck. Build up your credit with your $500 credit limit card.

I pay on time because it just withdraws from my account automatically. (I just used it for the private payments for online shopping)

yes I use it all the time. it works fine. I'm surprised the bonehead you talked to didn't know about it, they've had it for at least a year if not longer. if you have a browser window open with a credit card number field, deskshop will generate a one-time use number and if you like fill in name, address, etc. for you.

I never heard of it being discontinued for my Amex Blue ... I don't use it though, so I might have missed it.

There's a request limit increase button on their website if you log in to check your balance.
