A friend of mine whose dog died after 15 years didn't think she could handle getting another one. But I suppose it's worth it. :)

It's true... but you know the saying, 'it's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved before.' It's part of life to lose love ones, but it's the time you get to spend with them that's the matter. Not only is a dog or cat goign to give you 10+ years of happiness, but you're also providing 10+ years of happiness and love for them as well. Refer to my sig.

We've lost three dogs to old age, and three to cancer. It's never a good thing. :(

I was really attached to the last dog of ours that died, a yellow lab named Aspen. I was depressed for weeks after we had to put him down. :( :(

Right now we have a chocolate lab named Bear. If anything happened to him, I'd be so upset.
