One thing I hate about Gmail

My email seems to be getting delayed. Someone emailed at 10.30pm last night and I waited it for it. After 1am I gave up.

Today I received the email with a time stamp of 10.32pm, I know email isn't instant but a day of delay seems lame. This happens all the time too.

Could be that people are emailing me from other providers.

Its probably the other provider.

I recently proctored an exam where the students emailed their results to a gmail address. Almost all of the students used gmail or the university email and their results showed up within seconds. One student had yahoo and his results took about 30 minutes to arrive.

I only have that problem when I get emails from a separate pop-server through gmail since gmail only checks every 30 minutes or so (unless you force an update).

Emails going directly to the gmail address go into the inbox right away.

In the past day I've been getting delayed facebook notifications through Gmail. I figured it was Facebook lagging, but it could be Gmail. Some emails were delayed, others weren't.

This happens with all email, not just Gmail.
