one system, 3000 viruses

My friend and her younger sister have been downloading a lot from Kazaa. Unfortunately, they were not aware of the danger of VB script files. No virus scanner either. So there are many pictures and songs on her system which are actually VB scripts that have been executed. She's been complaining about system slowness and crashes too. You'd expect that with thousands of viruses wouldn't you? Bad part is, she tried to send me a mp3.vbs. I caught that, fortunately. lol

Now she says she can't reformat the system because her father will kill her. Pretty much no alternative is there, she and her sisiter should just face the music right?

Also can anyone reccomend a free, downloadable virus scanner?

3000 viruses? I doubt it. Anyway, your friend is dumb, let her dad get mad at her, she deserves it.
