WHY BOTHER? I have a p3 800eb, why should i get a new mb for another P3, when after the 1.2GHz the line is probably DEAD. waste of money on a MB just to go 1 more step.

Rather go Athlon for a longer mb and chip life

Exactly.. this is kinda a bad move for existing P3 users... you might as well get the newer P4..

But if you dont like p4 and you need a computer TODAY, that 512k one w/SMP may be good.. but it's still expensive

Yeah, forget Tualtin, it's a dead end. It should be interesting to see though how it compete's with Morgan Duron's.

Yes at this time with Socket 423, but once Socket 478 rolls around that won't be the case.

I'm no engineer but it is hard to design something that can double the speed in a short time... even as we go towards .13 micron... you can't just abandon old rules and start from scratch.. it's pretty hard...

I mean intel kinda hit the speed bump but you know, as technology advances, chips will be faster but dont expect every new chip to double your current setup...

Even AMD is kinda slowing down the speed release, but that can be the economy slowing down also..

Duh~

intel doesnt want you to upgrade. that is why the price is so high and speeds arent going anywhere~. its for lappys. not deskies.

I will be dropping my current KT133A/Duron based system ASAP in favor of a dualie P3 1.2's @ ???. I'm sick of AMD's heat output, I'm sick of VIA being a POS, & I want a fast + quiet SMP system.

I'm going back to Intel.
