Look closely at the socket with a magnifying glass & a flashlight to see if anything is in there across 2 pins or any pins bent, broken or out of place

try getting a small clamp or something.. holding the thing together and then sit ram in

You might try to find a heavy rubber-band that will strech tightly around it
