One Program Constant Crash, Still Stable?

I ran prime, othro's, memtest, ati tool, etc... Pass all of them, stay with normal temps. Never have problems with any games, video, basic word processing.

However, internet explorer is the bane of my existence. It randomly crashes and then I'll restart it. It does this on any clock speed I try. It did it even on IE8 beta. IE7 32 bit and 64 both display the same problem.

It has not effected the performance of anything else on my system. PC Mark and 3dmark give satisfactory scores.

Is this just software BS or does anybody think the system sounds unstable? My system is in my signature.

I'd be worried.

I haven't seen IE crash on Vista. Ever.

This is on three machines running Vista on totally different platforms/hardware combos, both 32 and 64 bit.

Really? Then I've had a horrible run of luck. I've had it happen on my current setup even with everything set to stock. And on my old board- n650i, also with my old cpu e6400.

Any suggestions? I don't have my voltages handy but I'll post them when I get home tonight. That might give some insight to see if i should bump it up.
 
Do you install any weird toolbars/plugins or anything like that? Do you run any third party "temp file cleaners?" or anything like that? Custom skins, themes? Do you visit any specific sites that might be causing the crash to happen?

i had IE crash on a 2 minute old install of vista 64 when i was trying to run windows update

I dunno. I don't run any bloated antivirus/spyware suites. Maybe that's it. I'd like to say it's luck, but I never experience crashing, ever. Even on XP I never saw IE crashes with IE7. I did pre Sp1 but that was what, 5 years ago? I can't remember the last time I saw a piece of MS software crash.
 
I have Vista 32 on several computers and also have a LOT of IE crashes and freezes. Don't think it has anything to do with OC or hardware. Frequently the Microsoft advisor crap comes up and says it was caused by Windows. Ah, well there we have it. Thank you very much.

Because some people like me don't like Firefox at all. I find it a lot more buggy than IE. It still has trouble rendering a lot of sites for me and seems to get more bloated and crummy at memory/resource usage as the versions climb. And it's yet another 3rd party program that I'd rather not bother with if I don't have to. I know a lot of people that use Firefox out of habit and not necessarily by choice. A friend recently came over and was surprised how snappy and clean IE7 was. He said he never used it before, even though he has a Vista PC with about the same specs as me.
 
I have close to zero problems on multiple systems with IE (and Maxthon). I regularly have IE/Maxthon running with 20+ tabs open on XP and Vista.

Your problem is something other than IE itself.

Uh, firefox has crashed once for me, ever.

Firefox is not meant to be lightweight, it's built to be efficient while performing with many tabs open, and many web development add-ons along with a great deal of customization.

It passes Acid2, wich IE7 still can't do. SO obviously, your visiting pages built for IE with non-standard markup.
 
Was your processor overclocked when you installed your current windows setup? If not, the overclocking process tends to corrupt random files/programs. Your IE might have been affected.
 
If an integrated part of windows (especially vista 64bit) keeps crashing, your hardware is not stable. Simple as that. Vista64 is extremely sensitive to unstable hardware, especially memory related instabilities.
 
I'm one of those people that just want something to work. I'm not really worried about compliance. I'm not a web developer. I just judge based on the end product -- what I see on the screen. I'm glad Firefox exists and offers an alternative to IE and I'm glad there's something so customizable, for people who want that.

Notice I never said it sucks. I just said I don't like it because it feels clunkyish to me and adds an extra layer to my system I really don't feel like I need.

Ever tried Maxthon? Bare IE is hard to use, but Maxthon makes IE what it should have been in the first place.
