i decided to major in animal science (more specifically animal biology) which seems interesting but career opportunities does not seem very exciting
i want to major in animal biology and hopefully get into a veterinary school to become a veterinarian or even go to grad school

but what if i don't get into vet school? i don't want to spend my life as a farm manager, livestock producer, vocational agriculture teacher or anything similar to that
and they money is not all there either unless i go to a vet school

animal sci/biology looks like my type of thing though.... damn

Study hard, get good grades, get an internship, then go to vet school. Problem solved. ;)

With a major in animal biology you can do alot of things, including any form of biology, since alot of techniques are the same. Also, you can get into argriculture, and states like NJ and DE those are big deals, and they pay their employess big bucks at some companies.

However, know to get into vet school, if your state does not have one, you must have VERY good grades (over 3.5gpa) and go well on GREs, but above all, you need ecperience. They like that ALOT. Grad school isn't as hard to get into, and if you go for your PhD you actually get paid to go b/c you are doing research, and then you can get even more types of jobs.

I was just a general bio major, but I am going to UD next year, for my PhD (5 yr program) and getting paid to do it. Good deal if you ask me!

there is always a risk with the major you pick...if you really want to, work hard for it, and something will come of it. Dont worry about it, but never lose site of your goal

I think you'll be fine with a degree in animal biology. The medical/research field always needs people...
Medicine is going to be the "hot" major considering the lull with Information Technology plus the fact that in the next 10-20 the majority of baby boomers will be retiring...

You could always move into Biotechnology, right? I mean how different could the majors be? Ok, I'm thinking that over and that is almost a joke. But it isn't that far off of your major.
