Long story short I shut down my "server" box (an old p4 with a bunch of hdds, nothing fancy) to take out the gfx card and now after I put it back in nothing starts up. When the box is getting power all the fans spin, but hitting the power or reset switch does nothing at all. The box worked fine for years before this. Sorry for the short post, not really sure what else to put here to start off, but 'll be happy to answer any questions that come up and give anything a try. Thanks in advance.

Fist thing to check would be to see if the graphics card is seated properly also if it has any power connectors make sure the all pins are making a good connection.

Ok, so I disconnected and reconnected the video card and everything seated well, same thing as before. Fans spin the entire time there is power, but the hdd's do nothing at all and the reset and power buttons do nothing. I double checked the power and reset connections to the mobo and they are fine. Anymore ideas? Things to check? Thanks in advance.

So I let the box sit overnight with the power connected and the fans spinning hoping that it would just need to run like that for awhile and then be fine (I swear I remember seeing/reading about that one time). No luck at all. Fans still running when I checked on it this morning and buttons still do nada. So does it sound like I fried something somehow? Thanks in advance.

Have u tried running it without the video card in to listen for a BIOS beep. Card could be the problem.

Ok, tried without the video card and got the same thing, I didn't hear any beeps or anything. Whenever the system has power the fans spin, kb lights work, etc, etc, but no hdd action at all and neither the power or reset switches do anything. New gfx card for my main box will be here today, so hopefully that will help in the troubleshooting efforts. Any other ideas or things to try? This system has worked fine for 6+ years, it is driving me crazy that taking the video card out has messed it up. Thanks in advance.

Another friend of mine suggested unplugging some of the hdd's that were in the box (total of 7) and seeing if it would start then. I tried this (left a total of 3 hdd's and one optical drive plugged in) and nothing changed. I'm about at the point of scrapping the guts of this thing and using the case for the htpc I want to build anyway. Any other thoughts or ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks in advance.
