one of three AMD Processors... WHICH?!

im looking into building one of the best pc's... and i mean going all out. So ive decided on everything except the processor. I cant decided between the following.

AMD 4000+ SD core

This is the cheapest and seems to be the best for the money.

AMD FX-55

The price on this is dropping and this is the best processor in my opinion. I can also say i have at fx-55... thats worth it in itself.

AMD FX-57

This processor isnt out yet but will have the new core, it will be expensive and ill have to wait but its gonna be amazing. Wait for it?

AMD Dual Core 4400+

Im not really sure about the dual cores because i dont really have a use for them and im more of a gamer...

opinions please...

Buy a Skt 939 3200+, and then swap in the X2 4400+ when it comes out (or a bit after to see if the price drops any)

Jeremy

if you can wait a couple of weeks, and you can afford it, go for the fx-57 for sure. it is the best processor you can buy.

4000 is the most anyone should go for if they dont overclock, but it's still a bad choice. FX's sucks when you pay twice the price of a 4000 for no where near twice the performance. x2's are the next step to upgrading. but a 3200 wouldnt hurt neither would a 3000 cause those sob's can oc to 2.6 on any normal day.

x2s just seem a little uncessisary right now... and fx is starting too as well...

unless anyone has any objections i think im gonna go with the 4000+.... thoughts?

For gaming, I wouldn't go for the highest of anything. If you wanted single core, I'd go with the 3200+ or the 3700+ if you want high end. If you wanted dual core, get the 4400+. Go spend the money you save on the best video card and some more games to play.

since games don't take advantage of dual core... yet...

i'm gonna have to agree with what most people are saying... get a 3000+ or 3200+ venice core and overclock it...

but if overclocking ain'tyour thing...

then the 4000+ is probably your best bet...

I have the 4000+ and love it. I don't overclock, and the performance difference between the 4000+ and the FX-55 isn't worth double the price (for me, at least).

Plus, you can always upgrade to an X2 down the road when prices come down and supply is more readily available. 🙂

NO .. FX57 is single core SD clocked at 2.8Ghz.. 😉

the FX59 has been rumered to be a dual core but like i said RUMER, i personally think it is going to be a 3Ghz SD with unlocked multis.

Well, to be honest the 4400+ would be the way to go. For the most part these A64s seem to be scaling to about the same levels. Granted it wont go as far as an FX57, but then again the 4400+ will be about 1/2 the price of it.

If you are talking about maximizing your price potential it would be with the 4400+

eh im just gonna get the 4000+... there the cheapest best... and if i pay anymore im not even gonna notice a diffrence in preformance

hell even if i over clock i wont even see anymore preformance...

and even if i do feel the need i can always upgrade to x2 later down the line, thanks guys

from what I hear about the fx-57 it doesn't seem to overclock any more than a 4000+

if you are going to have so much CPU power, you better be running a 6800GT overclocked or an ATI x850 PE and have a gig of RAM

In my opinion the FX line is just like Intel's EE line. It's overpriced, unnecessarily. The FX-57 is supposedly going to push 2.8ghz stock. I've seen people OC their 3700+ to 3.0ghz with air cooling. But the FX-57 is stocked at 2.8, and could likely go higher. So it's up to you. To me, it's too much to pay for not too much of a gain.

I have a 6800 ultra and a gig of corsair ram... i think im just gonna buy whatever i can afford in a month... ill probably end up going with a 4000+ or maybe a X2... probably not a fx... I wanna get a 4800+ now! but im just gonna wait because im not gonan see much diffrence between the two...
