My wife has been coveting my TDI beetle since I got it. If it was not going somewhere she took it.
Today I fixed that problem, I got her one of her own :D

/fixed :D

How do you like them? A friend of mine has an early 2000's gas model and seems to have nothing but problems with it - I've never had a friend with a TDI one, though.

I still kinda want a turbo diesel pickup. Thing is...I have absolutely no need for one at all. And I don't need yet another money pit begging for more boost. :p

I doubt his issues are engine related. The Germans make wonderfully complex systems that suffer from electrical gremlins. Those seem to be the chief complaints. I have one door lock that I have to fix on the black. The silver, it all works for now :D

We miss ours, so congrats on adding an extra one to the stable and getting yours back full-time! We had the non-turbo regular gas model though, and it was amazingly fast. Took waaaaay too many freeway exits at 60 just because we could

Structurally everything was fine our eyes, but all the little crap broke - cupholders, holy crap handles, trunk latch, 12V plug, etc. (and multiple times on some of them). No issues with anything during the few years we had it tho - no engine or drivetrain issues or anything major really.

It was mostly cooling problems - water pump/radiator related, I believe. The last one was rough running and high fuel use, which could be a maintenance item, who knows.

My sisters tdi has had the usual interior trim items falling apart and had some weird issues with the windows but otherwise has been really reliable for her.

Grats on the bug! How long till a 17/22 hybrid goes in!

Funny you mention that :D
I will start with a malone 1.5 tune and pp520 nozzles. Anything more than that and I will spin the stock clutch.
