One user at my work has caused i problem i cannot figure out. Whenever he double clicks on a sub folder of a root directory in Windows Explorer or My Computer the find function(Like he hit F3) starts up. If you right click and go to "Open" it works fine. If you hit enter to open it, it works. This Windows NT, BTW.

This problem occurs in all profiles, which rules out a profile error.

i tried that when i first got to the machine. Doesnt fix it. It happens for all users, which is what makes me wonder what the heck happened.

I'd say go back to those instructions and make sure to disable the function again. Then restart. If that fails (and it really should work), then the only other thing it could be is a prank virus. Tough to find those too as they just install as a "normal" program. Remember the CD tray opening one? You might look to any recently installed software for your answer there.
