One of the first XP 2700+ sightings??

If you take a look at this week's Best Buy ad, you'll see an ad for an Alienware system running on a XP 2700+!! I took a close look and found no fine print about it being a pre-order. You still can't buy the actual chip by itself, so its still a paper launch, but this is still a hopeful sign that the paper launch will be over sometime in the next few weeks instead of sometime next year!

That is right...Only the 2800+ which they said would be a limited edition chip left...What if AMD would launch the 3000+ chip right before p4 3.06ghz comes out and continue its lame game of one uping Intel on paper. I know we haven't heard anything but it seems to follow their MO....Remember they launched the 2700-2800 before the 2400-2600 chip even surfaced. They need to paper launch their next years chips now!!!!

I think the real reason for the delay is they actually couldn't get good yields and only a handful of chips were cutting the 2700-2800 grade at time of launch. So as they seem to be getting a handle on it they may have a few chips that at default vcore can do 2900-3000 levels...they should launch them to spoil Intel's day though I think it wouldn't beat the 3.06ghz but it wouldn't be the homerun Intel would like...


I think alienware had someof the first 2400-2600 chip systems as well....I don't know how OCing friendly their systems are.....

All sorts of rumors have been going around about what AMD is doing (or not doing), but the one I want to be true is that they're slowing down the production of the 2800+ and 2700+ to allow them more time to get hammer ready to go on time.
