Just formatted a friends Dell 4400
for him, and after updating to SP2
I keep getting this message after rebooting...
"One of the files containing the systems registry
data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy
the recovery was successful.
Keeps coming up on every boot, and
seems to hose Norton Anti-Virus too.
Anyone know why this is going on?
formatted 3 times now....

ive heard of a tie in with this error and Sasser, check your computer for viruses with LATEST virus definitions

wouldn't the format
remove any virus
which may have been on the machine?

youd think that, but not in all cases, however for your particular situation, most likely, has the system been on the internet since it was loaded? Was there any length of time at all it was online?
