One of the coolest Christmas gifts I got ....

So my Grandfather sent me, my brother, and my sister all the same gift. It was wrapped and it was so easy to tell it was a book. I personally do not like reading at all so I was like "hmmm what could this be about ...".

Then when we go to open it, my mom says "this gift is something you guys should treasure and not take for granted" and we thought she waskidding, but she was like "and i'm serious about that."

So I open it and sure enough it's a book. However it's not just any other book ...

He was in World War 2 and he kept a personal diary, which was not allowed either because if they were captured by the enemy, the enemy would have some information as to what is going on with the Americans.

So turns out my grandfather kept a diary which was not allowed at all. He also got caught with it, but turned out he got caught by his higher-ups (not sure on the ranks) and they took it away from him. HOWEVER ... he kept 2 copies of it, and they only found 1. That means he wrote everything down 2 times in 2 different journals.

So the book that I got was a published version of his diary. It is also kept in his own handwriting and not typed, which makes it seem very personal. I must say this is one damn cool book, and I will definitely be reading this in the near future.

Awesome. I wish I could've asked my grandfather about him fighting in Indonesia, but sadly he passed away about a week after I had learned he had served there 🙁.

Cherish your book and most of all your ((great)grand)parents, OP.
